In your phone's settings, you can check how much data your eSIM has used under data usage. Please note that your device may take the measurement from a certain date. This may mean that part of your used data can be found in a previous measurement.

How can I top up an eSIM?

1. Log in to your Smissey account (make sure you're logged in to the same account you used to purchase the eSIM you want to top up).

2. Search the website for the destination for which you want to top up your current eSIM.

3. Choose the data bundle with which you want to top up your eSIM.

4. Select the eSIM options: Top up.

5. Enter your ICCID which you can find in your email with the eSIM.

6. Pay and you will find the confirmation in your email and your eSIM will be automatically topped up.

How can I buy a SIM card on Smissey?

How many eSIMs can I install?

eSIM-enabled devices allow you to install multiple eSIMs, but depending on the device model, the number of eSIMs you can have active at the same time may vary.

Dual Active Dual SIM standby phones allow multiple eSIMs to be installed simultaneously.

For example, iPhones can store 5-10 eSIMs depending on the device's storage.

However, the number of eSIMs you can have active on your device depends on the device model. With iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini you can use dual SIM with two active eSIMs or a nano SIM card and an eSIM.

What happens to the unused data after the validity period?

The eSIM data can only be used within the validity period, which means that the remaining unused data after the validity period cannot be used.

If the eSIM is rechargeable, it is possible to add a new data package by topping up the eSIM to continue using the same eSIM.

Can I install the same eSIM on multiple devices?

No, you cannot install the same eSIM on multiple devices.

Your eSIM can only be installed on one device and most eSIMs can only be installed once. This means that if you remove the eSIM from your device, it cannot be reinstalled.

Can I use tethering (personal hotspot)?

Yes, you can use your personal hotspot
use with your eSIM as long as it is supported by your device and the
network.

Can I reinstall an eSIM?

Most eSIMs cannot be reinstalled, which means that if you delete your eSIM, you may encounter an error when you try to download it again.

We recommend temporarily disabling the eSIM when you are not using it to save on data usage. However, once activated, the validity of the eSIM does not stop.

Can I receive calls on my primary number?

Yes, your primary number should be able to receive calls if your device allows you to activate a SIM card and e-SIM card at the same time.

If you're using an iPhone, select models have Dual SIM Dual Standby (DSDS) technology that allows you to stay connected to both your physical SIM card and your eSIM at the same time.

However, the number of eSIMs you can have active on your device depends on the device model. With iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini you can use dual SIM with two active eSIMs or a nano SIM card and an eSIM.

iPhone 12 models, iPhone 11 models, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR have Dual SIM with a nano SIM and an eSIM, but you can only have one eSIM active at a time.

Can I access all apps and websites with my mobile eSIM data?

With a Smissey eSIM you can access many apps and websites as long as there are no restrictions on the app or website you want to use.

Some apps or websites that restrict access due to:

Proxy settings
Security protocols
Location/service provider restrictions

eSIM data requires a routing method that works via a 'roaming platform'. For this reason, they may not be accessible due to the security settings of the app or website.

When is it safe to remove eSIMs from my device?

You can safely remove eSIMs from your device when:

  • There is no longer an active data package for the eSIM
  • You no longer need your eSIM
  • Your new eSIM is for the same country/region

When can I use the same eSIM?

When you can use the same eSIM:

  • If the eSIM has available top-up data package options that you can purchase.
  • If you still have the eSIM installed on your device.
  • If you are using the eSIM in the supported country(s).

Can I use 5G with my eSIM?

Several Smissey eSIMs support up to 5G mobile networks. However, this may vary depending on your device.

Please note that 5G networks are only available in supported countries and regions.

You can find out if the eSIM you want to buy supports a 5G network by going to the website and tapping:

The relevant destination > General information.

*An area with 5G coverage is required to connect to a 5G network. If you are too far away, the speed may slow down or drop to a 4G or LTE connection.

Where can I find the ICCID number of my eSIM?

When you contact our customer service and require assistance with your eSIM, our support team will ask for the ICCID number of the eSIM in question.

The ICCID number stands for Integrated Circuit Card ID. It is a 20 digit number that starts with 89XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX and ends with a random extra number. The ICCID is a globally unique serial number, a unique signature that identifies the eSIM card.

If you cannot find the ICCID, the eSIM ICCID number can be retrieved from our email that we sent you with the eSIM.

How do I know which eSIM uses data?

On Ios

Follow these steps to check which eSIM is selected for data:

  1. Go to Settings on your device
  2. Click on Cellular/Mobile
  3. Go to Mobile data to see the plan used for data

If you have multiple eSIMs installed, your device will show the available plans as long as they are "On" under Mobile plans.

On Android

  1. Go to Settings on your device
  2. Go to Connections
  3. Go to SIM Card Manager
  4. Scroll down and under Preferred SIM card check which line is selected under Mobile data.

How can I remove an eSIM from my iOS device?

You can delete the eSIM(s) that you no longer use or temporarily disable an eSIM in the settings of your device.

To delete an eSIM:

  1. Go to Settings on your device
  2. Go to Cellular/Mobile
  3. Click on your eSIM
  4. Select Remove mobile data subscription
  5. You may be given the option to 'Remove eSIM' or 'Remove mobile subscription' depending on your device

Temporarily disable an eSIM:

  1. Go to Settings on your device
  2. Go to Cellular/Mobile
  3. You should see the option to “Turn this line on or off.” This will temporarily disable the eSIM. You can re-enable or re-use this eSIM at a later time.

How can I receive text messages and calls while I want to receive data with my eSIM?

If your eSIM only supports data, you can still use another line for calling and texting.

Check the additional information details of your eSIM to see your subscription type. You can see your subscription type by checking the following link: " Can I call or text with my eSIM ?".

To use your primary line for calling and texting while enjoying your eSIM for data, you need to enable the primary line and set it as your default calling line. In this blog we explain step by step how to do this.

How do I change my eSIM label?

Most phones allow you to save multiple eSIM profiles and switch between them if necessary.

During the eSIM installation, your device will automatically store your
label new eSIM. Then you can go to your device settings and this
modify.

We recommend choosing a name that easily identifies the eSIM
(e.g. Italy eSIM or Travelsims eSIM).

Why don't I see 5G in the status bar on my iPhone?

Once you've confirmed that your device eSIM supports a 5G network, you should be able to connect at a much faster data speed. If you don't see 5G in your iPhone's status bar, follow the steps below:

  1. Make sure you are in an area with 5G coverage.
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Go to Mobile data
  4. Tap the desired SIM card. If 5G is enabled in Calls & Data , 5G is activated on your device. If 5G is not an option, the eSIM does not support 5G.
  5. If 5G is activated on your device, turn Airplane Mode on and then off to reconnect to a 5G network.
