To know when you can install your eSIM, you need to be aware of the activation policy.
Most eSIMs will not activate at the destination until they connect to a supported network or one of the supported networks.
On the other hand, there are eSIMs that activate immediately once installed, regardless of location.
How do I know when my eSIM is activated?
You should check the activation policy of Your eSIM.
Before purchase:
- Search for the country you want to buy an eSIM for.
- Select the eSIM you like.
- Check the activation policy.
- Tap "the caret down" to find the activation policy.
After purchase:
- Go to "My eSIMs".
- Go to "Details".
- Click "Show more".
- Click on "Activation Policy".
- "The validity period starts when the eSIM connects to one or more supported networks": This means that you can install the eSIM before traveling without activating it. Once you arrive at your destination, you can connect by enabling your eSIM line, as long as the installation is complete as advised on your eSIM installation page.
- "The validity period starts at installation": this means that your eSIM is activated immediately after installation and the validity period starts even though you have not yet reached the destination.
